4:00-6:00pmToday was sadly my last day. Mercedes had me rack all the new arrivals that had already been through the whole rebranding process onto the racks where they fit best. When I say where they fit bests that means the most appropriate place where it would look good. I decided to rack them based on the color or the style. After that she had me do something very simple which was to create a Pinterest board of clothing styles I liked so that she could look to see what to get for the shop. As an owner of a clothing shop she likes to see the styles other people like besides her own so that she can have other peoples insights which then helps add variety to the clothing the store offers.

4:00-6:00pmToday was super fun. My task for the day was to pick put an outfit with the clothing available at the store and then take an aesthetic photo of it for the facebook website. The most important note Mercedes gave me is that you must think of the audience. What she means by this is that instagram tends to be more of a teenager audience whereas facebook is more of an adult audience. With this being said its not like I was going to choose a crop top with a skirt, it had to be appropriate to the audience that was at hand. A huge part is the layout of the clothing. You need to be able to see each piece that you display (you can't have one completely covering the other). After the photo has been taken you then need to edit it. In the pictures shown below the image on the right side is the original and the image on the left is edited. For Bow N Arrow they have a theme of edits because you don't want every picture you post to have a different filter, you want it all to coordinate. They always use the VSCO filter that is C1.
4:00-6:00pmToday Mercedes had me clean out the store closet and update the websites stock numbers. She also had me re do the entire front section of the store the way I thought would look most appealing. This consisted of re dressing the mannequins and choosing clothes I thought would look best at the front of the store. This was very important because this small section is the first thing you see when you walk into the store. When it comes to "decorating" you have to make sure that the clothing coordinate well. Foe example, you don't want to put floral blouses with scarfs and glasses, that makes no sense and doesn't mash well. This picture below was the end product.

4:00-6:00pmToday was probably one of my favorite days because I got to work with one of Mercedes coworkers and model the stores clothing for their website. By doing this I was able to see how crucial it is to have the "perfect" shot in order and how complicated the process really is. It's not as simple as just sitting down and taking a picture, you must pay attention to the lighting and the background of the photo itself. I know it may be a cliche but the angles are also very important! Not only the angles but the way you lay your hair, cross your legs and position your hands is a big deal. These are little details in a picture that make a huge difference.
4:00-6:00pmToday she had me steam the clothing that needed to be put out in the store because a lot of the new arrivals come in super wrinkly and just overall in very bad condition so that's when I come in and gather all the clothing in which is very wrinkly and I steam them. I came to realize how much work it is to keep up with appearances and maintenance is crucial when it comes to marketing. For example, let's say no one would take the time to steam the clothes, do you really think someone would want to buy something that is super wrinkly? No because that isn't something that is appealing to the eye.
4:00-6:00pmToday she had me take in all the new clothing that arrived and I had the task of rebranding the new arrivals. This consisted of taking off the old tags it came in with and then retagging the bow n arrow clothing icon onto the clothing. After I had retagged all the arrivals with the bow n arrow clothing icon I would then be given papers in which had a barcode that pertained to each specific clothing. For example, a cheetah print bodysuit has a different unique barcode than it would black ripped jean. After I gave each clothing its pertaining barcode I then circled the sizes
4:00-6:00pmAt Bow N Arrow today she had me change the mannequins with what I thought looked good and then she'd approve when I was done. Mannequins are crucial when it comes to marketing because when people are walking past the store the first thing they see are the manequinns and that's what will lure them in especially if they see something they like.
4:00-6:00pmToday at Bow N Arrow clothing Mercedes had me organize the racks, this consisted of me having to face all the hangers/clothing the same way and have everything be color coordinated. Another important task she had me do is that whenever someone tried clothes on and put it back on the "return rack" she had me then re rack it to it's rightful spot. This just showed me how important it is to keep the store looking neat because it is a huge eye appeal when it comes to people wanting to buy your clothes. For example when you are at forever 21, doesn't it make you have a little anxiety seeing clothes on the floor and finding a shirt you really like in the most random spot but it's not your size and since its out of place you can't even find your size. Having a organized shop is one of the most important marketing aspect because it will bring happiness to the eye and make you want to buy the clothes since its aesthetically pleasing
4:00-6:00pm Today she had me steam the new packages of clothing that had just arrived because they came in super wrinkly, This just comes to show how much the little things matter in running a business because appearance matters and it has to look good if you want it to look good.
4:00-6:00pm Today she had me organize all of the clothing. By this I mean she made me re organize the clothing racks making sure that all the hangers and clothing were facing the same way.
4:00-6:00pm Today I primarily learned how she runs her business. When I first got there she gave me the task of taking off all the previous tags it had and tagging the clothing with her own customized label as shown in the image above. After I tagged all of the newly received clothing I would have to stick the bar code onto the tag with it's pertaining bar code. For example if the cheetah print body suit had a barcode of MT678J I would stick that bar code on each cheetah print body suit tag.
4:00-6:00pm Today I worked on the marketing aspect of running a business. She specifically made me work on taking pictures of the clothing for her to either post on her instagram account or facebook account. The assistant would ask me to put outfits together and when taking the pictures of the attire I was taught that you had to take the pictures a certain way and this showed me the importance of displaying clothes in a professional manner. For example the layout of the clothing is crucial and it had to be aesthetically pleasing to look at especially when marketing clothing on her website or accounts it has to be appealing to the eye in order to gain followers/customers.
